The electric motor power in order in Brazil is single or three phase. The single-phase electric motor is the most found to carry out rural services, domestic and commercial. But the three-phase electric motor is used in industrial applications and the frequency is at 60Hz.
The three-phase voltages commonly used in electric motor are: low voltage 220, 380 and 440 V and high voltage of 2,300, 4,160 and 6,600 V. The electric motor having three-phase star system has low voltage and has three phase conductors plus the neutral conductor.
The neutral conductor of the electrical system is connected to the star point of the generator or is connected to the secondary winding of the transformer.
The single phase electric motor has been standardized in Brazil and tension is always between 127 V and 220 V and is connected in two stages.
